I agree that I don't think the background looks purposeful. The figure's starting to be interesting, but the background feels like sort of a cop out.

Wonderfull contours, you know its really a challenge to make the right width in a line art...Th stain in the back ground also adds to the effect...Good job...You know there is a book called "Goblins" you have a very smilar style with jim hensons goblin puppets...Have you seen the movie "labyrinth" you with David Bowie...Jim Hensons designs were used on that movie... 7/7
